Stark records 7 saves; Comets shut out Miramar 3-0

SAN MARCOS (9-27-2018) – When Palomar bounced back into the women's soccer win column on Friday afternoon, the Comets pulled it off with perhaps its best outing of the 2018 season.

Coach Hector Hernandez's team dominated against San Diego Miramar College at Minkoff Field, shutting out the Jets 3-0 for its first Pacific Coast Athletic Conference North Division victory.

Goalkeeper Katie Stark, a sophomore from Woodcrest Christian High School in San Bernardino and a transfer from the NAIA's Nebraska Christian University, recorded seven saves in playing the entire 90 minutes.

Palomar took a 1-0 lead in the 14th minute when Alexia Bruzzi, a sophomore forward out of Orange Glen High School scored the first goal of the game off an assist from Seika Nakatsuro, a sophomore midfielder from Fukota, Japan.

The Comets made it 2-0 in the 43rd minute when Maria Kaye-Toral, a sophomore midfielder from Murrieta Mesa High School, kicked in goal No. 2 on an assists from Yuliana Sanchez, a sophomore forward out of Fallbrook High.

After leading 2-0 at the half, Palomar put the game away in the 84th minute when Kaye-Toral assisted Sanchez on the final goal of the afternoon which advanced the score to 3-0.

Palomar advanced to 5-11 on the season, 1-4 in the Pacific Coast Conference North. Miramar slipped to 1-6-1 and 1-3-1 in the PCAC North.
