Palomar beach volleyball goes 0-2 against LPU, Mesa Arizona

Palomar dropped a pair of 4-1 decisions to Life Pacific University and Mesa Arizona Community College on Feb. 25 at Mt. San Jacinto College, falling to 1-4 on the season.

Against LPU, Emma Bambe and Reese Maffitt provided the Comets' lone win in a match that required all three sets. Trailing after a 21-13 opening loss, Bambe and Maffitt battled back to take the second set 22-20 before closing out the decisive set 15-7 at No. 1. LPU swept the remaining four flights, including a three-set victory over Grayson Grein and Kate Johnson at No. 5 that came down to the wire, 10-21, 21-15, 15-11.

The Comets struggled to generate traction in the second match of the day against Mesa Arizona, with Bambe and Maffitt accounting for Palomar's only point once again. The pair edged their No. 1 flight 24-22, 21-14, but AZ Mesa swept flights two through five in straight sets to close out the match.

Palomar is 1-4 on the season and will next travel to Long Beach to face Cypress College and Riverside City College at Rosie's Dog Beach.
