Comets Ready for PCAC Individuals Tournament; Bambe and Spires Earn All-Conference Honors
SAN MARCOS, CA (4/15/2025) -- With team play complete, the Palomar College women's beach volleyball team now turns its attention to the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference (PCAC) Individuals Tournament, which begins Wednesday, April 16 at MiraCosta College. The bracket features a mix of top-seeded talent and opening-round battles, and the Comets will have strong representation across all levels.
Leading the way are Janell Spires and Emma Bambe, who earned All-Conference honors for their outstanding play throughout the season. The duo has consistently anchored the No. 1 flight for Palomar and will enter the tournament as the No. 4 overall seed. With that top-eight placement, Spires and Bambe receive a double bye and will begin their tournament run in the Round of 16.
Brisa Necochea and Kylana Madayag, seeded No. 9, also enter the tournament in strong position. They receive a first-round bye and will open play in the second round against the winner of the opening match between No. 24 (Daniels/Dy – San Diego City) and No. 25 (Flores/Merrill – Palomar), setting up the possibility of an all-Comets showdown.
The pairing of Mariah Flores and Kiana Merrill, seeded 25th, will look to advance and challenge their teammates in the second round. Flores and Merrill have been competitive all season at the No. 4 flight and are aiming for a deep tournament run.
Palomar's Cadence Young and Kaia Lam, seeded No. 17, will open in the first round against No. 16 Bustamante/Jorbozeh (San Diego Miramar), with the winner facing No. 8 Folkers/Lagrimas (San Diego Mesa) in the second round.
Rounding out Palomar's entries are Bailey Prieto and Teiora Tinoisomoa, who open play as the No. 33 seed and will face No. 12 Gadia/Jimenez (Mt. San Jacinto) in the first round. The winner will move on to face Spires and Bambe in the Round of 16.
With five pairs in the draw, the Comets will look to build off their regular season momentum and make a strong showing in the 2025 PCAC Individuals Tournament.
