Palomar beach volleyball drops match to College of the Desert

Palomar fell 4-1 to College of the Desert on February 20, with the Comets unable to find their footing against a Desert squad that controlled the match from the opening flight.

COD took four of five flights in straight sets, sweeping No. 1 through No. 3 before clinching the match at No. 4 in a hard-fought three-setter. Grayson Grein and Kate Johnson provided Palomar's lone bright spot at No. 5, rallying past Mia Castro and Addison Curtis 21-16, 23-21 to salvage a point for the Comets.

Caden Pinto and Janice Garcia came the closest to adding a second Palomar win, pushing their No. 2 match to three sets before falling 19-21, 21-8, 16-14 to Jacqueline Leon and Sophia Kalepp. Annie Cummings and Skylar Detmeir also went the distance at No. 4, dropping a 15-21, 21-19, 15-10 decision.

Palomar falls to 1-2 on the season and will return to action against Life Pacific University and Mesa Arizona Community College.
