Kramer drives in four as Comets take game two at Mesa, 7-3

SAN DIEGO, CA (3/26/2026) -- Gavin Kramer went 4-for-6 with four RBI and Ryan Herrod worked six solid innings as the No. 5 Palomar College Comets defeated San Diego Mesa 7-3 Thursday afternoon, taking a 2-0 lead in the series and moving to 23-3 overall and 12-0 in the PCAC.

Kramer was the story of the day, doubling and factoring into the scoring at every turn. The Comets built their lead in pieces, a run in the first, two more in the second, two in the fourth, and two in the seventh, never letting Mesa get close enough to make it uncomfortable. Elijah Stephens and Michael Rodda each drove in a run, and DC Ruth added another to round out the offense.

Herrod improved to 5-0, allowing three runs on five hits over six innings. Angel Barron was outstanding in relief, retiring all nine batters he faced across three scoreless innings to earn his first save of the season.

Mesa fell to its third straight loss in the series, committing three errors that helped Palomar extend its lead. Hunter Kaul homered for the Olympians.

The two teams wrap up the series Saturday at Bob Vetter Field, with first pitch set for 2 p.m.
