Men’s Volleyball Falls to Undefeated Golden West, Hosts Santiago Canyon Next

SAN MARCOS, CA (2/27/2026) -- Palomar men's volleyball faced a tough test Friday night, falling in straight sets to undefeated Golden West College, 25-14, 25-21, 25-18.

Golden West entered the match unbeaten and showed its efficiency offensively, hitting .351 as a team. Palomar found more rhythm as the match progressed, turning in its best set in the second, but couldn't overcome an early deficit .

Tyler Smith led the Comets with nine kills on a .286 hitting percentage, continuing to pace the offense. Connor Ferguson added three kills and two block assists, while Aiden Gardiner chipped in two kills and a block. Josh Garland also recorded two kills, and Sebastian Gomez added a kill off the bench.

Setter Todd Clemens finished with 13 assists and nine digs, helping facilitate the offense and contribute defensively. The Comets totaled 21 digs as they worked to extend rallies against one of the state's top teams .

Palomar will look to bounce back Wednesday when it hosts Santiago Canyon College at 5 p.m. in its next conference matchup.
