Men’s Volleyball Falls at Grossmont, Set to Host Mesa for Sophomore Night

EL CAJON, CA (4/3/2026) -- Palomar men's volleyball dropped a straight-set decision Friday night to Grossmont College, falling 25-20, 25-16, 25-22.

The Comets showed consistency offensively, totaling 34 kills and hitting .218 as a team, but couldn't match Grossmont's efficiency, as the Griffins posted a .420 hitting percentage in the match.

Josh Garland led Palomar with nine kills on a .412 hitting percentage, while Tyler Smith added seven kills and a service ace. Aiden Gardiner continued his strong play with five kills on a .444 clip, and Like Pihana contributed four kills.

Setter Todd Clemens directed the offense with 18 assists and added two service aces, while the Comets totaled 23 digs as they worked to extend rallies throughout the match.

Palomar will return home Wednesday night to host San Diego Mesa College for Sophomore Night, with first serve set for 5 p.m.
