Men’s Volleyball Falls at Miramar in Season Finale, Closes 2026 Campaign

SAN DIEGO, CA (4/10/2026) -- Palomar men's volleyball wrapped up the 2026 season Friday night with a straight-set loss to San Diego Miramar College, falling 25-18, 25-16, 25-17.

The Comets showed efficiency early, hitting .320 in the opening set, but Miramar used a balanced attack to take control and close out the match in three. Palomar finished with 24 kills and a .203 hitting percentage in the finale.

Josh Garland and Tyler Smith led the Comets with five kills each, while Connor Ferguson added four kills. Todd Clemens turned in an efficient performance with four kills on a .571 hitting percentage to go along with 12 assists, and Aiden Gardiner contributed three kills and a solo block.

Defensively, Palomar recorded 22 digs, with Like Pihana leading the way with six as the Comets continued to battle through the final match of the season.

The 2026 season presented challenges for the Comets, but also moments of growth and development throughout the roster. Palomar showed resilience across conference play, pushing multiple opponents to extra sets and earning key set victories against teams like San Diego Mesa and San Diego Miramar. The Comets saw consistent contributions from a core group, with players like Tyler Smith, Josh Garland, and Connor Ferguson leading the offensive efforts, while Todd Clemens anchored the attack as the team's primary setter.

Despite the results, the season laid a foundation for the future, with valuable experience gained across the lineup. As the program looks ahead, the growth, toughness, and competitiveness displayed throughout the year will serve as building blocks moving forward.
