Comets Fall in Regular Season Finale, Set for No. 3 Seed in PCAC Tournament
SAN MARCOS, CA (10/29/2025) -- Palomar men's water polo closed out the regular season Wednesday afternoon with a 16-8 loss to San Diego Mesa College at Wallace Memorial Pool. The Comets finish the conference schedule 3-2 and will enter next week's Pacific Coast Athletic Conference Championship as the No. 3 seed, opening against No. 6 San Diego Miramar College at 9:30 a.m. on Friday at Southwestern College.
The Olympians jumped out early and never looked back, leading 10-0 at halftime before Palomar found its rhythm in the second half. The Comets scored all eight of their goals after intermission, including seven in a furious fourth quarter rally.
Kaelin Kelley led the comeback push with three goals, while Brian Otto, Josiah Wagner, Sam Goode, Cody Schnick, and Jack Fritz each added one. Ramiro Mosquera tallied an assist and drew multiple exclusions as the Comets fought to the final whistle. In goal, Mitchell Peyton collected 15 saves against 31 shots faced.
Palomar now turns its attention to postseason play as they look to make a run in the conference tournament next weekend.
