Huey, Flaviani earn top All-PCAC honors

SAN MARCOS, CA (4/24/2026) – Two Palomar College players and their head coach received top honors when the All-Pacific Coast Athletic Conference softball teams were announced for the 2026 season.
 
Alexis Huey was named the conference Player of the Year and Kiara Flaviani was named Pitcher of the Year as the two sophomores led the Comets to a 15-0 PCAC record for Palomar's fourth straight undefeated conference season.
 
Coach Lacey Craft, who has been at the helm for 12 consecutive conference championship seasons, repeated as the PCAC Coach of the Year.
 
Huey, a sophomore first baseman, established a new school record for home runs when she finished the 38-game regular season with 20 homers, the second-highest total in the state this season. Huey's regular-season batting average of .557 (73-for-131) also ranks second in the state.
 
Flaviani, a sophomore right-hander who is the state's only 30-game winner this season at 32-1, fashioned a 12-0 record in 13 conference starts with a 2.09 earned run average. She had 20 walks and 60 strikeouts in 57 conference innings pitched.
 
Joining Huey and Flaviani as All-PCAC first-team selections were sophomore left fielder Taylor Armstrong, sophomore designated player Lauren Doepping and three freshmen, including third baseman Ava Alvarez, right fielder Kailey Dain and second baseman Kristina Deal. Sophomore center fielder Gisele Gonzalez was a second-team All-PCAC pick.
 
Huey, Doepping and Deal all hit four home runs apiece in conference play, with Huey collecting 23 of her team-leading 65 RBIs in 15 PCAC games. Huey (.557) and Dain (.526) were the two top conference hitters in the state for the regular season, with Dain batting .650 (26-for-40) and Huey batting .580 (29-for-50) in conference games.
 
Doepping had a .382 batting average and 19 RBIs in 13 conference games, Alvarez batted .393 with three home runs and 17 RBIs in 13 conference games, and Deal batted .513 with 17 RBIs in 14 conference games.
 
Dain had 11 of her team-leading 20 stolen bases in 15 conference games, and her 20 runs scored trailed only Huey (21) in PCAC play. Armstrong batted .429 with 12 RBIs and one home run in 15 conference games, and Gonzalez batted .409 with three home runs and 13 RBIs in 14 conference games.
 
Palomar, ranked No. 2 in the final regular-season state poll, will bring a 37-1 overall record into the 3C2A Southern California Regionals being held May 1-2.
