Lacey Craft was named the third Head Softball Coach in the history of the program in the Fall of 2010 after serving as an assistant coach for 5 seasons. Since leading the Comet softball program, Craft has guided her teams to 11 Pacific Coast Conference Championships in 12 seasons, compiling a 173-14 PCAC record (.925 winning percentage). In her third year as head coach, Craft led the 2013 Comets to a State Championship and repeated another State Title in 2015. She also guided teams to the State Championship game in 2018, 2019, & 2023. In her first 10 seasons as Head Coach, she earned 9 PCAC Championships, 9 Regional Championships, 9 Super Regional Appearances, 4 State Finals Appearances and 2 State Championships. Craft’s overall record stands at 437-102-1 (.811 winning percentage). She has been recognized as the PCAC Coach of the Year nine times, honored as the CCCFCA State Coach of the Year twice (2014, 2023) and the NFCA National Coach of the Year twice (2013, 2015).  

Craft has produced 23 NFCA All-Americans, 51 CCCAA All-State and/or All-SoCal Players, and coached 5 CCCAA State Player/Pitcher of the Year athletes. Her greatest achievement is helping her student-athletes meet their academic goals and transfer to 4-year universities to continue to pursue their academic and athletic goals – 90 of her athletes have transferred onto 4-year universities.  

Lacey is a San Marcos native that grew up around the Palomar athletic program, literally – as the daughter of Palomar’s legendary head football coach, Tom Craft, who won 3 State and National Football Championships at Palomar College (1991, 1993, 1998) before coaching stints at SDSU, Mt. SAC and currently Riverside City College where he has won 3 additional State and National Football Championships (2009, 2019, 2023). Lacey played her freshman season under Hall-of-Fame Coach Mark Eldridge where she set a Pacific Coast Conference record hitting .622 in conference games. She played only one season for the Comets before transferring to San Diego State University where she played infield under head coach, Kathy VanWyk and earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Exercise, Nutrition and Health. She went onto earn a Master’s Degree from Azusa Pacific University in Physical Education. Lacey and her husband, Chad, live in Escondido with their french bulldog, Ella.
