Comets Finish Fourth at SoCal Duals

WALNUT, CA (10/18/2025) -- Palomar Wrestling battled through one of the toughest events of the season, placing fourth overall at the 2025 3C2A Southern Regional Duals, hosted by Mt. San Antonio College. The Comets fought their way into the top four of the Southern California field, showcasing resilience and depth in one of the final major tune-ups before the postseason.

The tournament featured the region's premier programs, with Mt. SAC capturing the team title over Cerritos, followed by Victor Valley in third and Palomar in fourth.

Palomar's highlight of the day came in the third-place dual against Victor Valley College, where the Comets clawed back from an early deficit to nearly complete a comeback. After dropping the opening six bouts, Palomar's upper weights delivered a surge of pins that nearly swung the match.

Seth Iten (174) started the rally with a fall at 2:20, followed immediately by Sebastian Anderson (184), who secured another quick pin at 2:13. Nick Garris (197) made it three straight, sticking his opponent in just 14 seconds to electrify the bench, and Alejandro Scolari (285) capped the run with a late fall in 6:15. Despite the furious finish, Palomar fell just short, 32-24, settling for fourth place overall.

Earlier in the day, Palomar advanced through the early rounds behind several key wins from the middle and upper weights. Anderson, Iten, and Garris each recorded multiple falls throughout the day, while Porras, Rodriguez, and Piec continued to compete tough against ranked opponents.

The performance underscored the Comets' continued growth under head coach Ben Adams, with multiple wrestlers showing the ability to score bonus points and close out matches late.

Palomar's fourth-place finish placed them ahead of programs like Cuesta, Bakersfield, Lemoore, and Santa Ana in the final standings, reaffirming their position among Southern California's top contenders.

The Comets will return to action next weekend at the Meathead Mover's Invitational as they continue building toward the Southern Regional Championships, where they'll look to punch their ticket to the state tournament.
