Palomar Wrestling Takes Fifth at 3C2A State Championships

ROCKLIN, CA (12/13/2025) -- The Palomar Comets wrapped up the 3C2A State Championships with a fifth-place team finish, putting together a strong all-around performance highlighted by five individual medalists and three All-Americans.

Competing against the best programs in the state, Palomar consistently scored across multiple weight classes and battled deep into the championship rounds, continuing the program's tradition of postseason success on the state's biggest stage.

Three Comets Earn All-American Honors

Palomar's top performances came from three wrestlers who earned All-American status with top-four finishes.

Sebastian Anderson (184) delivered one of the Comets' most complete tournaments. Anderson opened the championships with back-to-back wins before rebounding from a setback to string together multiple victories in the consolation bracket. He capped his run with a third-place finish, using a mix of pins and decisions to secure critical team points and stand on the podium as a state medalist and All-American.

At 141 pounds, Sergio Porras put together a breakthrough postseason. Porras fought through a challenging bracket and recorded three wins on his way to a fourth-place finish, showing poise and toughness throughout the tournament. His performance marked one of the highlights of Palomar's weekend and earned him his first All-American honor.

Ivan Natcelli (174) added another All-American performance to his resume with a fourth-place finish. Natcelli bounced back after an early loss by rattling off multiple wins, showcasing his experience and consistency in high-pressure matches. His ability to wrestle back through the bracket played a major role in Palomar's overall team standing.

Depth Shows with Two More Medalists

Palomar's depth was on display with two additional wrestlers reaching the podium.

Jakar Carter (197) responded to early challenges with an impressive bounce-back effort, winning four matches to finish fifth at the state championships. Carter's resilience and late-tournament push helped the Comets secure valuable points in the upper weights.

At 149 pounds, Nicholas Rodriguez earned an eighth-place finish, highlighted by a technical fall and multiple hard-fought matches. Rodriguez's ability to score bonus points and battle through the bracket added to Palomar's strong overall showing.

A Strong Finish on the State Stage

With five medalists, three All-Americans, and a top-five team finish, the Comets once again proved they belong among California's elite wrestling programs. Palomar's blend of postseason experience, resilience, and depth across the lineup was evident throughout the tournament, as the team consistently responded in key moments.

The fifth-place finish serves as another benchmark for the program and sets the tone heading into the future, as Palomar continues to build on its tradition of excellence at the state level.
