Palomar women's soccer dropped a hard-fought 1-0 decision to MiraCosta College on Friday night at Minkoff Field in a matchup that decided control of the PCAC standings.
The Spartans struck early, scoring in the 5th minute off a quick counterattack, and the Comets spent the rest of the match chasing the equalizer. Despite creating pressure and earning several dangerous looks, Palomar couldn't find the finishing touch against a packed MiraCosta back line and a standout performance from the Spartan goalkeeper.
The loss snapped Palomar's three-match win streak and dropped them just behind MiraCosta in the conference race, but the Comets remain firmly in postseason contention. They'll look to bounce back in their PCAC finale on Tuesday against San Diego City College.
