Comets Host PCAC Invite #2, Eye Final Tune-Up at Southwestern

SAN MARCOS, CA (3/21/2025) -- Palomar College welcomed conference rivals for the second Pacific Coast Athletic Conference (PCAC) Invite of the season, hosting the event on home turf while posting a flurry of personal bests and season-best swims.

Women's Highlights

The Palomar women had a banner day in the pool, with 16 personal bests recorded. Ruby Jones delivered another standout performance, dropping time in both the 50 free (27.75) and 100 free (1:00.72), while also leading the team in the 100 back (1:08.05).

Tiana Timmons swam a 2:25.17 in the 200 back and a 12:16.18 in the grueling 1000 free. Devyn Wible improved in the 500 free (5:54.40) and swam strong in the 50 free (28.56). Emily Freeman dropped time in both the 100 breast (1:21.04) and 200 breast (2:56.20), while Isabella Moncada and Georgia Jensen added personal bests in their respective events.

Men's Highlights

John Fritz put together another strong meet, swimming a 5:03.83 in the 500-yard freestyle and improving slightly in the 100 free (51.31) and 50 free (23.42). He also posted a 1:04.58 in the 100 breaststroke, continuing to show strength across multiple strokes.

Brian Otto trimmed time in the 50-yard freestyle, clocking a 27.08, and swam his best 100 breast of the season at 1:13.30. Kameron Lypps also had one of his best meets of the season, improving in both the 100 breast (1:20.50) and 200 breast (3:01.23). James Ellsworth notched a personal best in the 50 free (31.27) and showed gains in the 100 back (1:22.14).

 

Final Tune-Up Ahead

With just one more conference meet remaining before the PCAC Championships, the Comets are rounding into form. Palomar will travel to Southwestern College next Friday for the final tune-up before the postseason begins.
