Comets Explode for 22 Runs in Road Win at Fullerton

FULLERTON, CA (2/6/2026) -- Palomar College Baseball bounced back in emphatic fashion on Friday afternoon, rolling past Fullerton College 22-5 on the road to improve to 6-1 on the season.

After trading early runs, the Comets' offense erupted in the middle innings, breaking the game open with a seven-run sixth inning and adding crooked numbers in three consecutive frames. Palomar finished the day with 22 runs on 12 hits, while also showing discipline at the plate by drawing 18 walks.

DC Ruth delivered a big day in the leadoff spot, finishing 3-for-4 with three RBIs and three runs scored. Elijah Stephens drove in two runs and reached base five times, while Preston Conklin and Braedon Peterson-Cheek each added two RBIs. Mike Rodda collected three hits and scored three runs, and the Comets consistently pressured Fullerton's pitching staff from top to bottom in the lineup.

On the mound, Joey Navarro worked three innings in the start, striking out six. Joey Halter earned the win in relief, tossing two strong innings and allowing just one run while striking out four. Angel Barron and Cody Cappelletti followed out of the bullpen to close out the win as Palomar limited further damage late.

Palomar will now return home for a three-game series against No. 14 Folsom Lake College, beginning Thursday at Bob Vetter Field with a 1 p.m. first pitch.
