Green silences Mesa bats as Comets take series opener 7-0

SAN DIEGO, CA (3/24/2026) -- Jordan Green was as sharp as he has been all season. The right-hander held San Diego Mesa College scoreless through seven innings Tuesday afternoon as the No. 5 Palomar College Comets opened their series against the Olympians with a 7-0 victory, moving to 22-3 on the year and 11-0 in the PCAC.

Green improved to 4-1 on the season, allowing just three hits while striking out six. Dylan Berentis and Joey Halter each worked a scoreless inning in relief to finish off the shutout.

Elijah Stephens provided the big blow, launching a three-run home run that accounted for the bulk of the damage. Preston Conklin went 3-for-5 and drove in a run, Jacob Loving also went 3-for-5 and swiped a bag, and Rainn McMillan tripled and added an RBI. Michael Rodda went 2-for-5, and the Comets finished with 13 hits across the lineup.

Mesa fell to the shutout despite putting runners on in multiple innings, grounding into three double plays that repeatedly snuffed out any potential rallies.

The Comets and Olympians continue the series Thursday at Mesa, with first pitch set for 2 p.m.
