Comets sweep City College with 17-4 blowout, Navarro improves to 7-1
SAN MARCOS, CA (4/11/2026) -- The No. 2 Palomar College Comets completed a three-game sweep of San Diego City College with a 17-4 victory Saturday at Bob Vetter Field, improving to 29-4 overall and 18-1 in the PCAC. It was a performance that was over early and got better as it went.
Palomar scored in six of eight innings, sending 10 batters to the plate in the first on four runs before the Knights had even recorded an out. The Comets added runs in the third, fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh to make the final margin emphatic. Thirteen hits, 10 walks, and contributions from top to bottom — it was one of those days where everything clicked.
Elijah Stephens drove in three on two hits, Michael Rodda went 2-for-3 with three RBI and a pair of doubles, and Justin Tucker drove in three with two hits. Gavin Malcomson came on late and delivered a three-run double, TK Madera added a two-run knock, and Jacob Loving and Preston Conklin each drove in a run. DC Ruth reached base three times and scored three from the nine hole.
Joey Navarro was efficient and clean through six innings, allowing three runs — two earned — while striking out six without issuing a walk. He improved to 7-1 on the season. Dylan Berentis, Blake Gordon, and Peyton Perry combined to work the final three frames and keep the bullpen sharp heading into a busy stretch of conference play.
San Diego City fell to 11-22 overall and 4-15 in the PCAC.
Palomar travels to El Centro on Tuesday to open a three-game series against Imperial Valley College, with first pitch at 2 p.m.
