No. 24 Palomar Opens PCAC Play with Home Win Over Southwestern
SAN MARCOS, CA (12/17/2025) -- Ranked No. 24 in the state, Palomar opened Pacific Coast Athletic Conference play in strong fashion on Tuesday night, defeating Southwestern College 81–74 inside the Dome.
The Comets set the tone early, taking a four-point lead into halftime and responding to every Southwestern push in the second half. Palomar capitalized at the free-throw line and off turnovers down the stretch to secure the conference-opening victory.
Tore-Andre Gray delivered a career night, pouring in 30 points on 8-of-12 shooting while knocking down three triples and going 11-for-15 at the line. Gray also added four rebounds and two steals, providing a steady presence on both ends.
Isaiah Pomare followed with 13 points and eight rebounds, while Justin White chipped in 12 points, including six made free throws. Jaidyn Norman added 11 points, hitting a pair of threes and helping anchor the defense.
Palomar finished with 33 bench points and scored 22 points off turnovers, offsetting Southwestern's advantage in the paint. The Comets also closed strong at the line in the second half to hold off a late Jaguar rally.
With the win, Palomar improves to 8–4 overall and 1–0 in PCAC play.
The Comets will step out of conference one final time on December 30, traveling to face Pasadena City College to close out their nonconference schedule before returning to league action.
