Palomar Handles Cuyamaca, Sets Up Friday Showdown with Miramar

SAN MARCOS, CA (2/4/2026) -- Palomar continued its strong play at home on Wednesday night, earning an 87–73 victory over Cuyamaca College to keep pace near the top of the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference standings.

The Comets took control early, building a 40–31 halftime lead, then pulled away in the second half behind improved shooting and bench production. Palomar shot 52.9% from the field after halftime and outscored Cuyamaca 47–42 over the final 20 minutes.

Benjie Nudo led all scorers with 28 points, knocking down five three-pointers and providing a steady offensive spark throughout the night. Drew Pierce added a big lift with 21 points, hitting six threes, while Angel Ochoa finished with 17 points and seven assists.

On the glass, Jaidyn Norman delivered a dominant effort with 17 rebounds to go along with nine points, helping Palomar win the rebounding battle 49–40. The Comets also got 33 bench points, creating separation as the game wore on.

With the win, Palomar improves to 16–7 overall and 8–3 in PCAC play.

The Comets will return to action on Friday night, hosting San Diego Miramar College inside the Dome for a 7 p.m. tip-off.
