SAN MARCOS, CA (9/4/2025) -- Palomar men's soccer showed resilience at home Thursday, earning a 1-1 tie with Santa Monica College at Minkoff Field.
The Corsairs stunned the Comets with a goal just four minutes into the match, but Palomar's defense locked in from there. Making his first start of the season, goalkeeper Bruin Bailey came up big, stopping a penalty kick to keep the Comets within striking distance.
Palomar equalized late in the first half when Ibrahim Joubran found the back of the net in the 43rd minute, finishing off a sequence created by Ismael Zavala and Dylan Bissember. From that point on, the Comets controlled the defensive third, shutting down the Corsairs' attack and keeping the match level.
With the result, Palomar moves to 1-2-1 on the year and continues to build momentum behind a maturing defensive unit.
