Palomar Opens Conference Play with Win Over Crafton Hills
SAN MARCOS, CA (9/17/2025) -- Palomar carried its momentum from the home tournament into the start of conference action, defeating Crafton Hills College 16-9 in their opener at the Wallace Memorial Pool.
The Comets blitzed the Chargers early, putting up eight goals in the first quarter to build a commanding lead. Morgan Hartness scored three times in the win, while Mikey Montoro powered the offense with a game-high five goals. Cody Schnick added three more, and Kaelin Kelley netted two. Palomar also got tallies from Brian Otto, Jack Fritz, and Brody Rodriguez to round out the scoring.
In goal, Mitchell Peyton turned away 17 shots in three quarters of play before Alex Gonzalez closed out the contest with four more saves. The Comets' depth showed again as they spread assists across the lineup, including multiple helpers from Peyton, Fritz, and Wagner.
With the win, Palomar improves to 6-2 overall and 1-0 in conference play. The Comets will head to Walnut this weekend to compete in the Mt. San Antonio College Tournament.
