No. 12 Palomar Set to Host No. 21 Pasadena City in Playoff Opener
SAN MARCOS — The postseason is officially set.
Fresh off their fifth consecutive conference championship, the Palomar women's basketball team has been awarded the No. 12 seed in the Southern California Regional playoffs and will host No. 21 Pasadena City College on Wednesday night at 5 p.m. inside The Dome.
The matchup will be part of a playoff doubleheader, with the Palomar men also hosting later in the evening.
Palomar enters the postseason with a 20–7 overall record and an 11–1 conference mark, having just handed MiraCosta its first loss of the season to secure a share of the conference title. The Comets averaged 79.5 points per game, outrebounded opponents by more than 10 boards per contest, and forced over 11 steals per game during the regular season.
The playoff appearance marks Palomar's 19th postseason berth since 2000, further reinforcing the program's consistency and championship culture.
Pasadena City enters the playoffs at 14–14 overall, averaging 57.5 points per game while allowing 58.3. The Lancers are led by Kamora Fletcher (17.2 ppg) and Celine Bolton-Ford (12.1 ppg, 12.2 rpg), two players who anchor Pasadena's offense and rebounding attack.
The Comets' depth and defensive pressure will be key in the first-round matchup. Palomar has six players averaging over seven points per game and ranks among the top scoring teams in the region, while Pasadena has struggled with turnovers, averaging more than 19 per game.
Tipoff is set for 5 p.m. Wednesday, with postseason advancement on the line as Palomar looks to continue its championship run.
Full playoff brackets and additional regional information were released Sunday afternoon.
