Comets Grind Out Rivalry Draw at MiraCosta

OCEANSIDE, CA (10/7/2025) -- In a fierce battle between longtime rivals, Palomar women's soccer and MiraCosta College fought to a 0-0 draw Tuesday afternoon in Oceanside.

From the opening whistle, the rivalry heat was on full display — tackles flying, sidelines loud, and neither side willing to give an inch. The Spartans came in near the top of the conference standings and peppered the Comet goal with 21 shots, but Nathalie Mancilla stood tall in net, recording four crucial saves to preserve the shutout.

Despite being under pressure for much of the match, Palomar matched MiraCosta's intensity stride for stride. Naomi Allen, Lizzy Cook, and Sophia Frederick all created dangerous chances in transition, forcing the Spartan defense to stay honest as the match wore on.

In front of a lively crowd, both teams traded punches in a physical second half, but neither could break through as the final whistle cemented the scoreless draw.

Palomar (5-2-4) returns home Friday for another key conference matchup against San Diego City College at Minkoff Field.
