Comets Earn No. 20 Seed, Will Travel to No. 13 Pasadena City for Fifth-Ever Postseason Appearance

The wait is finally over.

For the first time since 2004, and the program's fifth postseason appearance of the 2000s, Palomar College women's soccer is headed back to the 3C2A SoCal Regional Playoffs.

The Comets have been awarded the No. 20 seed and will travel to No. 13 Pasadena City College on Wednesday for a 4 p.m. kickoff in the opening round.

Palomar's return to the postseason comes after a historic regular season in which the Comets posted an 11–4–5 overall record and a 9–3–4 PCAC mark, their best campaign in recent memory. Powered by one of the most explosive offenses in Southern California, Palomar scored 62 goals across 20 matches, an average of 3.10 per game, while conceding just 24 behind standout goalkeepers Nathalie Mancilla and Gianna Belasco.

Offensively, the Comets bring a balanced scoring threat into postseason play. Naomi Allen (11 goals), Lizzy Cook (10), Sophia Frederick (10), and Reese Leichtfuss (6) give Palomar four double-digit or near double-digit scorers. Eight different players have scored at least twice, and six players own at least three assists, led by Emma Gryn's eight.

They'll face a Pasadena City team that enters the postseason 13–6–2, riding one of the strongest offensive resumes in the region. The Lancers have scored 50 goals, average 16.3 shots per match, and feature star forward Alexandra Lopez, who leads the team with 14 goals and 6 assists. PCC is 8–2–0 at home and has allowed just 22 goals all season behind goalkeeper Gaioi Mahe and a disciplined back line.

For the Comets, Wednesday's match represents not just a playoff debut, but the culmination of a historic climb. In just one season, Palomar transformed from a middle-of-the-pack program into a contender, finishing third in the PCAC and earning a postseason berth that marks a new standard for the program.

Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. Wednesday at Pasadena City College as the Comets look to extend their record-breaking season into November.
