Comets Fall to Sierra in Tournament Opener

SAN DIEGO, CA (9/6/2025) -- Palomar women's water polo ran into a tough Sierra College squad in their opening game of the San Diego Miramar Mini Tournament, falling 16-6 on Saturday morning.

The Wolverines built an 11-0 lead midway through the second quarter before Malia Hanss broke through with back-to-back goals to put the Comets on the board. Hanss went on to lead Palomar with four goals in the contest, including one in the final period.

Keyanna Mucino and Kaylin Mihelich each added a goal, but the Comets were unable to slow Sierra's balanced attack. In the cage, Savannah Walker recorded four saves against 21 shots faced.

Palomar (2-1) will look to bounce back later in the tournament as play continues at San Diego Miramar College.
