Comets Sweep Jaguar Mini Tournament

CHULA VISTA, CA (9/20/2025) -- Palomar women's water polo turned in another strong performance on Saturday, picking up two wins at the Southwestern College Jaguar Mini Tournament. The Comets defeated Cypress College 17-5 in the morning before rolling past East Los Angeles College 16-2 in the afternoon.

Against Cypress, Palomar wasted no time taking control with five goals in the opening quarter and seven more in the second to build a double-digit lead at halftime. Malia Hanss and Ruby Jones each netted three goals, with Jones also handing out four assists. Keyanna Mucino added three goals, while McKynley McCulloch dished out four assists to go with two goals. In all, eight different Comets found the back of the net in the win.

The Comets carried their momentum into the afternoon contest against East LA, scoring the first five goals and never looking back. Mucino led the way with four goals and two assists, while McCulloch added three goals and three assists. Mia Fick, Tessa Ferragamo, and Kaylin Mihelich each scored twice, and Savannah Walker anchored the defense with 11 saves.

With the sweep, Palomar improves to 7-2 overall and will turn its focus to the Mt. San Antonio College Tournament next weekend.
