Comets Dominate Day One at Ventura Tournament
VENTURA, CA (10/10/2025) -- No. 10 Palomar women's water polo continued its hot streak on Friday, cruising to two decisive wins on the opening day of the Ventura College Tournament. The Comets defeated Modesto College 16-4 before overwhelming Bakersfield College 20-2 to extend their winning streak to five games.
In the opener against Modesto, McKynley McCulloch set the tone with a five-goal, five-assist performance as the Comets built a 12-0 halftime lead. Ruby Jones added two goals and two assists, while Malia Hanss, Renne Provencal, and Mia Fick each scored twice. Keyanna Mucino tallied a goal and three assists, and Savannah Walker and Kaylin Mihelich combined for 10 saves in the cage.
Palomar carried that same offensive firepower into the afternoon matchup with Bakersfield, lighting up the scoreboard for a season-high 20 goals. Mucino led the charge with four goals and two assists, while McCulloch matched her with four goals and three assists. Ruby Jones and Tessa Ferragamo each scored three times, and Fick chipped in three goals and an assist. Renne Provencal and Kaylin Mihelich added goals of their own as the Comets controlled every quarter.
Palomar (13-4, 3-0 PCAC) will return to the pool Saturday to close out tournament play.
