Comets Open Season with 93-80 Win Over Palo Verde

EL CENTRO, CA (10/31/2025) -- Palomar men's basketball opened the 2025-26 season with a 93-80 victory over Palo Verde College at the Battle of the Desert hosted by Imperial Valley College.

The Comets shot 50 percent from the field and had five players score in double figures in their season debut. Angel Ochoa led the way with 21 points, six assists, and four steals, setting the tone on both ends of the floor. Jaidyn Norman posted a dominant double-double with 13 points and 14 rebounds, while Justin White added 13 points and four rebounds.

Tore-Andre Gray contributed 11 points and eight rebounds, and Drew Pierce chipped in 11 points, knocking down a pair of threes. Braylon Hollins also hit three shots from deep to finish with 10 points.

The Comets outrebounded Palo Verde 45-30 and forced seven steals while tallying 19 assists on 35 made field goals.

Palomar will continue play at the Battle of the Desert on Saturday against Copper Mountain College.
