SAN MARCOS, CA (11/25/2025) -- In their first week inside the state Top 25, the No. 25 Palomar Comets went toe-to-toe with national power No. 6 West Los Angeles College, falling 88–87 in a back-and-forth battle that came down to the final possession.
The Comets erased a seven-point halftime deficit and surged ahead late, but West LA's free-throw shooting (31–35 on the night) proved to be the difference. Still, Palomar showcased why they've climbed into the rankings, putting together their most complete team effort of the year.
Angel Ochoa led Palomar with 18 points and six rebounds, while Isaiah Pomare added 15 points, knocking down both of his threes and all five free throws. Jaidyn Norman battled on the interior for 15 points and nine rebounds, and Justin White finished with 12 points and a block.
Off the bench, Benjie Nudo scored 13 points, and Tore-Andre Gray delivered 11 points, three assists, and two blocks in one of his strongest outings this season. Palomar shot 87.5% at the line and outscored West LA 40–36 in the paint, staying within striking distance all night.
Palomar (4–2) now turns its attention to another marquee matchup as they prepare to host No. 3 Fullerton College on Saturday at 3 p.m. inside the Dome.
