EL CAJON, CA (12/5/2025) -- In a tense, possession-by-possession battle, No. 25 Palomar edged Moorpark College 78–73 on Friday night in the opening round of the Grossmont College Invitational, securing their second win over the Raiders this season and advancing to the winner's side of the bracket.
The Comets leaned on their veterans to close it out. Isaiah Pomare once again led the charge with 23 points and 11 rebounds, his second double-double this week, while also adding three blocks in a dominant two-way performance.
Angel Ochoa provided a steadying hand with 12 points and three assists, and Justin White added 11 points and seven rebounds. Benjie Nudo came off the bench to contribute 11 points and seven boards, helping Palomar control key stretches of the second half.
One of the biggest boosts came from Tore-Andre Gray, who delivered his strongest outing of the season with eight points, 10 rebounds, four assists, and a block, anchoring Palomar on both ends.
Despite Moorpark's bench exploding for 42 points, the Comets countered by winning the turnover battle and capitalizing for 25 points off Moorpark giveaways. Palomar also held a narrow 30–28 edge in the paint and secured crucial offensive rebounds down the stretch.
With the victory, Palomar (6–3) advances to face LA Trade Tech College next on the winner's side of the bracket.
