No. 17 Palomar Cruises Past Cuyamaca to Stay Perfect in PCAC Play
EL CAJON, CA (1/7/2026) -- No. 24 Palomar continued its strong start to conference play on Wednesday night, earning an 89–62 road win over Cuyamaca College to improve to 3–0 in Pacific Coast Athletic Conference action.
The Comets seized control early, building a 45–28 halftime lead and never allowing the Coyotes to mount a serious run. Palomar shot 56.1% from the field, shared the ball with 19 assists, and held Cuyamaca to just 32.9% shooting on the night.
Angel Ochoa led the way with an efficient 23 points, knocking down four three-pointers while shooting 9-of-13 from the floor. Isaiah Pomare dominated the glass, finishing with 17 rebounds, while adding nine points, four assists, and two blocks in a complete performance.
Jaidyn Norman contributed 10 points, and Drew Pierce and Tore-Andre Gray added eight and nine points, respectively. Off the bench, Alvyn Renfro-Hardy chipped in eight points and two assists as Palomar continued to get production from throughout the rotation.
With the win, the Comets remain unbeaten in conference play and carry momentum into their next road test.
Palomar will return to action on Friday, traveling to face San Diego Miramar College in another PCAC matchup.
