No. 6 Palomar Tops No. 16 Long Beach City at Mt. San Jacinto Crossover
SAN JACINTO, CA (11/6/2025) -- The No. 6-ranked Palomar women's basketball team looked every bit the powerhouse they're projected to be, rebounding from a narrow opening loss with a 58–49 victory over No. 16 Long Beach City College at the Mt. San Jacinto Crossover on Thursday afternoon.
The Comets found their rhythm after a slow start, using relentless defense and hot shooting from beyond the arc to swing the momentum. After trailing by three at the end of the first quarter, Palomar locked in defensively, limiting the Vikings to just 11 points in the second and erupting for a 20–10 third quarter to take control.
Ivorii Seals once again led the charge, pouring in 16 points with five rebounds and three assists, while Kylee Trujillo added nine points and 10 boards in another all-around effort. Kailani Flournoy dominated the glass with 15 rebounds, and freshman sharpshooter Kami Gillis gave the Comets a huge lift off the bench, knocking down five three-pointers on her way to 15 points. ReeRee Davis and Bailey Wavrik added key defensive energy and combined for 12 points and six steals.
Palomar forced 27 turnovers and turned them into 33 points, while the bench contributed 27 points in a true team win that showcased the Comets' depth and defensive identity. The victory also marked Palomar's first win over a ranked opponent this season.
The Comets (1–1) will look to carry the momentum into Friday's matchup against Antelope Valley College at 1 p.m. to close out crossover play.
