Palomar Outlasts No. 14 Cypress in Overtime to Close Cypress Tournament

CYPRESS, CA (12/7/2025) -- In one of their toughest tests of the young season, the No. 6 Palomar Comets battled back and knocked off previously undefeated and No. 14-ranked Cypress College, earning an 81–80 overtime victory to close out the Cypress Tournament on Sunday afternoon.

The Chargers came out blazing, putting up 32 first-quarter points, but Palomar responded with 21 in the second and then dominated the third quarter 27–7 to flip the game entirely. The Comets held a late lead, Cypress forced overtime with a strong fourth, and Palomar delivered the final blow in the extra period, outscoring the Chargers 6–5 to seal the win.

Kailani Flournoy had one of the best performances of her career, posting a massive 20-rebound, 15-point double-double while adding two steals and five assists. Kylee Trujillo poured in 18 points, Kami Gillis added 16 on five made threes, and Ivorii Seals matched her with 16 points and eight rebounds.

Off the bench, Luciana Aguilar delivered a crucial spark with 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting, while ReeRee Daviscontrolled the tempo, finishing with six assists and five rebounds despite Cypress' pressure defense. As shown on page 1 of the box score, Palomar outrebounded Cypress 49–40 and forced 14 turnovers, converting them into key points late in regulation and OT.

Trujillo, Davis and Seals were all named to the All-Tournament Team.

With the victory, the Comets improve to 7–3 and pick up another ranked win heading into the holidays.

Palomar will travel north to Moorpark College on December 19 for three games over the weekend as they continue their nonconference slate.
