SAN MARCOS, CA (1/3/2026) -- The Palomar women's basketball team closed out its nonconference schedule Saturday afternoon with a 78–58 loss to Mt. San Antonio College inside The Dome.
The Comets were locked in early, tied 15–15 after the first quarter, but Mt. SAC used a strong second period to seize control. The Mounties outscored Palomar 28–12 in the second quarter, creating separation that carried into the second half. Palomar continued to battle but was unable to cut into the deficit as Mt. SAC shot efficiently and controlled the tempo.
Ivorii Seals led the Comets with 13 points and seven rebounds, while Luciana Aguilar added 12 points and six rebounds off an efficient shooting night. Kailani Flournoy recorded another double-figure rebounding effort with 11 points and 11 boards, and Kami Gillis knocked down four three-pointers to finish with 12 points.
Palomar held a slight edge on the glass, 42–43, but struggled offensively, shooting 30.4% from the field, as Mt. SAC capitalized on second-quarter momentum and points off turnovers to pull away.
Now 9–6 on the season, the Comets will turn their focus to conference play. Palomar opens Pacific Coast Athletic Conference action on Wednesday night, traveling to Cuyamaca College for a 5 p.m. tipoff.
