Comets Open Conference Play 2–0 with Wins Over Cuyamaca and San Diego Mesa

SAN MARCOS, CA (1/9/2026) -- The Palomar women's basketball team opened Pacific Coast Athletic Conference play in emphatic fashion, rolling past Cuyamaca College on the road before returning home for a statement win over San Diego Mesa College, improving to 2–0 in conference play.

Palomar set the tone in the conference opener with a 102–51 road victory over Cuyamaca, overwhelming the Coyotes from the opening tip with pace, pressure, and depth. The win marked the Comets' highest-scoring output of the season and sent a clear early message in league play.

Two nights later, Palomar backed it up inside The Dome with a 72–59 win over San Diego Mesa College, pulling away with a dominant fourth quarter in a highly anticipated matchup between conference contenders.

After a back-and-forth first three quarters, the Comets closed the game with a 23–14 fourth quarter, using defensive stops and timely scoring to create separation. Ivorii Seals led the way with 20 points, while ReeRee Davis delivered a strong all-around performance with 17 points, eight rebounds, and six assists. Luciana Aguilar added 14 points, and Kailani Flournoy controlled the glass with 14 rebounds to go along with eight points.

Palomar outscored Mesa 40–24 in the paint and held a 53–48 rebounding advantage, turning defensive pressure into key stops down the stretch to secure the home win.

Now 2–0 in conference play, the Comets will look to keep the momentum rolling as they travel to Southwestern College on Wednesday night for a 5 p.m. tipoff.
