Palomar Stuns MiraCosta, Secures Fifth Straight Championship

SAN MARCOS — In front of a packed Dome and with a conference title on the line, the Palomar women's basketball team delivered when it mattered most, defeating MiraCosta College 76–61 on Friday night to split the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference championship and hand the Spartans their first loss of the season.

The victory clinches Palomar's fifth consecutive conference championship, further cementing the Comets' dominance in the PCAC era.

MiraCosta entered the night 27–0 overall and unbeaten in conference play, but Palomar flipped the script in the second half. After trailing at halftime, the Comets exploded for a 20-point third quarter, shooting 70% from the field in the period to seize control. Palomar then closed the door with a dominant 27–11 fourth quarter, fueled by defense, rebounding, and clutch free-throw shooting.

Ivorii Seals led the way with 17 points, nine rebounds, and four assists, while Kailani Flournoy added 15 points and 11 rebounds. ReeRee Davis delivered a poised performance with 14 points, knocking down 8-of-8 free throws, and Kylee Trujillo contributed 12 points in the championship-clinching effort.

Palomar shot 83.9% from the free-throw line (26-of-31) and controlled the paint 28–14, while holding MiraCosta to just 18.2% shooting in the fourth quarter. The Comets also won the rebounding battle 48–31, a critical factor in shutting down the Spartans' previously undefeated run.

With the win, Palomar finishes the regular season 20–7 overall and 11–1 in conference play, sharing the PCAC crown and extending its championship streak to five straight seasons.

Playoff information will be released Sunday afternoon as the Comets now turn their focus toward postseason play.
