Comets Sweep Jaguars to Stay Hot at Home
SAN MARCOS, CA (10/24/2025) -- Palomar College women's volleyball team continued its strong run of play Friday night, sweeping Southwestern College 3–0 (25–17, 26–24, 25–11) at The Dome. The win improved the Comets to 14–6 overall and 7–4 in Pacific Coast Athletic Conference action as they enter the home stretch of the season.
Balanced from the Start
Palomar controlled the tempo early, using sharp serving and a balanced attack to take the opening set 25–17. The Jaguars pushed back in the second, but the Comets held off a late rally to win 26–24 before dominating the third set to close out the sweep.
Offensive Firepower
Freshman Emma Bambe led the Comets with 11 kills on .526 hitting, while Reese Maffitt added six kills and a team-high six service aces. Teiora Tinoisamoa was equally impactful, finishing with seven kills, three blocks, and 10 assists in an all-around performance.
Setter Caden Pinto steered the offense with 32 assists and added three kills and three aces of her own. Dovie Daniels contributed seven kills and four total blocks, and Sierra Schoenwald added four kills and two blocks in the middle.
Controlling the Net and Serve
Palomar hit .298 as a team while holding Southwestern to just .013 hitting on the night. The Comets also totaled 11 aces, keeping the Jaguars off balance throughout. Libero Kiana Merrill anchored the back row with 13 digs, and Charlie McLaughlin provided strong passing in the backcourt.
Looking Ahead
With the win, the Comets move to 7–4 in conference play and will look to carry their momentum into next week when they travel to face San Diego City College on Wednesday night.
