No. 23 Comets Sweep No. 21 Griffins to Stay Hot in Conference Play

EL CAJON, CA (11/7/2025) -- The No. 23 Palomar College women's volleyball team turned in one of its most complete performances of the season Friday night, sweeping No. 21 Grossmont College 3–0 (25–20, 25–18, 25–16) on the road. The win improved the Comets to 16–7 overall and 9–5 in Pacific Coast Athletic Conference play with one match left in the regular season.

Commanding on the Road

The Comets were in control from the first serve, using steady passing and efficient attacking to keep the Griffins off balance throughout the night. Palomar hit .368 as a team while holding Grossmont under .200, cruising through each set with confidence and poise.

Offensive Efficiency

Freshman Reese Maffitt was unstoppable on the pin, finishing with 16 kills on .407 hitting while adding 11 digs for a double-double performance. Teiora Tinoisamoa dominated at the net with nine kills on an impressive .600 hitting percentage, and Emma Bambe was right behind her with nine kills on .316 efficiency to go with 14 digs.

Setter Caden Pinto ran the offense to perfection, dishing out 40 assists and spreading the attack evenly across the floor. Sierra Schoenwald hit .417 with six kills, while Dovie Daniels was a force in the middle, putting away five kills on .571 hitting.

Peaking at the Right Time

Palomar's offensive rhythm and team defense were both on point in the sweep, marking the Comets' ninth conference win and solidifying their position among the PCAC's top programs heading into the final week of the regular season.

Looking Ahead

The Comets will close out the regular season on Friday night when they travel to face Cuyamaca College, looking to carry their momentum into postseason play.
