Comets Close Regular Season with Sweep at Cuyamaca

EL CAJON, CA (11/14/2025) -- The Palomar College women's volleyball team closed out its 2025 regular season in dominant fashion Friday night, sweeping Cuyamaca College 3–0 (25–20, 25–14, 25–12) on the road. With the victory, the Comets finish the regular season 17–7 overall and 10–5 in Pacific Coast Athletic Conference play, solidifying their postseason résumé ahead of next week's playoff seeding meeting.

Finishing Strong

Palomar took control from the start, staying sharp offensively and limiting errors throughout all three sets. The Comets hit .281 as a team while holding Cuyamaca to just .104.

Freshman Reese Maffitt led the charge with 11 kills on .588 hitting, adding 11 digs and an ace for a complete two-way performance. Emma Bambe turned in another standout effort with nine kills on .179 hitting, six service aces, and 12 digs.

Offensive Rhythm

Teiora Tinoisamoa was efficient in the middle, finishing with nine kills on .381 hitting, while Sierra Schoenwald contributed four kills, two blocks, and two aces. Setter Caden Pinto kept the offense humming with 32 assists, adding two kills, an ace, and four digs.

Off the bench, Annie Cummings provided a spark with two kills and three aces, while Charlie McLaughlin added six digs and an ace in the back row. Libero Kiana Merrill chipped in six digs and consistent serve receive play.

Ready for the Postseason

The sweep capped a strong finish to the season that saw the Comets win six of their final eight matches. Palomar's 17-win campaign included victories over two ranked opponents and showcased the depth and balance that defined their year.

Next up for the Comets will be the postseason seeding meeting, where they'll learn their playoff path as they look to make noise in the state tournament.
