SAN MARCOS, CA (10/3/2025) -- Palomar men's soccer delivered a statement victory Friday night, storming past rival MiraCosta College 5-2 at Minkoff Field to grab sole possession of first place in the PCAC standings.
The Spartans struck first in the ninth minute, but the Comets quickly turned the tide. Jakub Kozlowski buried a penalty kick in the 25th minute to even the score before MiraCosta briefly regained the lead. From there, Palomar took over.
Ismael Zavala leveled the match in the 44th minute off a feed from Dylan Bissember, and just a minute later, Felix Hamm gave the Comets their first lead of the night heading into halftime. Hamm struck again in the 60th minute with an assist from Isaac Garcia, and Kozlowski capped the five-goal outburst two minutes later with a finish from Matteo Vidal to make it 5-2.
Goalkeeper Bruin Bailey anchored the win with five saves as Palomar (4-3-3, 2-0-1 PCAC) earned its first victory over MiraCosta since 2021 — snapping a stretch in which the Comets had gone 1-8-1 in their last ten matchups against the Spartans.
The Comets will look to keep rolling when they travel to San Diego Miramar College on Tuesday for a 1 p.m. kickoff.
